The period for public comment is now long over. We are still waiting to hear from the Department of Health what, if any, of the proposed changes will be taken into effect.

This site will be updated with that information if/when it becomes available.

Until then...the contents of this site remain intact.

NOISE

Noise is a common problem afflicting communities nationwide.
It is an especially delicate problem within inner cities where population density is often more compact and where the boarders of commercial and residential properties meet and often blur.

Municipalities create laws to protect its cities residents from the sometimes noisy intrusion of their neighbors; commercial or otherwise.

You have rights….and the laws ARE changing.

Understanding your rights and demanding their enforcement will lead to a better downtown experience for everyone.

The unfortunate thing is that it's often easy for the individual to be ignored when a complaint is raised. But if we join together our voice will be louder, will be stronger, and will be impossible to ignore.

This site was created to provide you with information about the changing noise ordinance.

The new proposal can be found here: http://www.slvhealth.org/cfml/regsproposed.cfm

The new rules regarding the noise ordinance will benefit the residents of downtown, so it's important to contact your representatives and let them know you support the changes. (you can email them)

Additionally the council is set to meet on June 3---try to attend if possible to support the passing of these new regulations.

Did you know what New York City residents picked as the biggest infringement on the quality of life? (2006 poll)
It wasn't crime, congestion, panhandling, or even rude behavior.
IT WAS NOISE!
